Background Based Ability

This optional ruleset allows character creation using the character's background, rather than race, and introduces six new custom backgrounds for characters which are usable with or without the optional ruleset:

• The blacksmith, a character with high perseverance, and the social heart of their community
• The courier, a fast and agile character  who is always on the move
• The experiment, a gothic hero with a tragic or heroic backstory
• The praelect, an astute, wandering investigator 
• The teacher, a character with an interest in finding and providing knowledge
• The trusted servant, a character with unique access to a noble's court
